Kylie's ends up rather tiny (apparently because of her size and build), and is more of an Ammunition Fannypack, though she carries the improved Ghost Trap as well, mounted onto the back of her body armor.

Slimer returns to his role as Non-Human Sidekick, when he's not eating everything in sight. Janine Melnitz, Egon's fifth and final student, returns to work as the Ghostbusters' receptionist, accountant and collector. But when construction workers inadvertently release a new breed of ghosts, Egon has little choice but to form a new team of Ghostbusters using his students: standoffish Goth Kylie Griffin, wisecracking slacker Eduardo Rivera, Gadgeteer Genius Roland Jackson and Handicapped Badass Garrett Miller. While Ray Stantz, Peter Venkman, and Winston Zeddemore move away, Egon Spengler stays in New York City, living in the Firehouse with Slimer, maintaining the containment unit, and teaching as an instructor for the class "Paranormal Phenomena 101" at a community college. The show takes place ten years after the original Ghostbusters disbanded after they captured all the ghosts.

If you have time during Christmas vacation, or are stuck at home due to the Apocalypse currently happening, I'd recommend binging it!Įdit: Oh and spoiler, we do get to see the original cast come back for a guest appearance.Developed by Jeff Kline and Richard Raynis, Extreme Ghostbusters is a Sequel Series to The Real Ghostbusters (which was itself a Spin-Off of the first Ghostbusters film), airing for one season starting in late 1997. Kind of how they handled the Samurai Jack continuation. I have said so many times that the Real Ghostbusters would be awesome as an adult aimed reboot, but maybe this would be better? I think there's just more in this series to work with, and it was already 80% there to being "adult" if that makes sense. If you're into 90s cartoons or Ghostbusters, this just checks off all of the boxes. I genuinely think this show was solid, and I'd totally watch it again at some point. Their personalities don't change that much as they hang out with each other, which sucks, because you could see the bones of a really amazing series. There wasn't any romantic growth between characters blatantly set up for it. This lack of continuity makes it annoying, because it doesn't allow our characters to grow over time. There's a loose sense of continuity between episodes, with occasional call backs to previous events, however each episode is usually self contained.
This would have been the perfect series to make a film adaption from, because it's actually diverse, BUT well executed. No, I'm not promising characters full of depth, or even necessarily character development, but we do learn more about these characters over the 40 episodes. You'd swear it would be the most eye rolling cast a creative team could come up with, and yet, I ate my words hard. We have a bunch of college kids consisting of a black guy, a goth girl, latino, and a paraplegic. It's full of adult humor, pop culture jokes, cripple jokes, and great monsters. Ironically enough, the show looks "PC" as hell on the surface level, which may have been why I never checked it out. It was actually really solid, and still holds up very well. I've seen the Real Ghostbusters cartoon before, and supposedly this was a sequel series to compliment it. I've never seen anything about the series before, so it was an unbiased look at it. On a whim, I decided to watch Extreme Ghostbusters on Hulu.
